John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN premiered on October 25th, 1978, not in Los Angeles with a big event at Mann’s Chinese Theater, instead it opened in Kansas City. It did quite well there and opened up in Chicago, and then earned showings in New York. From there, it had a platform release across the country, playing in different cities at different times.

Over 31 years later, the movie has made its money back more than 200 times! This earned it the title of the most successful independent horror movie of all time.

  1. Typically classic trailer spoils a lot same thing with Carrie 1976. And the voice who says Halloween is also used in many other classic trailers like Jaws etc.

  2. I don't believe Michael was actually "mental", aside from the first movie. A mental patient isn't gonna go and track down his whole family line, lol.

  3. Horror movies with serial killers are the best, i miss these kind of movies. I wish directors nowadays would stop making horror movies with ghosts, making a horror movie like halloween having a serial killer wearing a mask is more scarier than a fucking ghost, smh…
