April 6 2019: YouTube app for iOS 6 started to pop up a warning message again after I share a fix method in 2018 (You must update to continue) asking to update the app in order to continue using it. And In this video I show you how to bypass this warning message from YouTube app on iOS 6 in order to continue using it again as usual.

iFile (Repo:
IconTool (Repo:

P.S: You will need a Jailbreak on your iDevice. You maybe can try doing this without Jailbreaking by reading this article:

Update: I noticed that when I change from 10.16.11582 to 12.16.11582 in two different places as I do on my video, then for some strange reason after I run YouTube app it is working without a crash now and without Update required message, and it’s a little bit strange because it was crashing yesterday but now it’s not and it’s very cool actually because I personally no longer need to type in the search bar something to prevent the crash. I hope this helps someone.

Update April 27: Thanks to “lukas35 jakob” for the provided information you can now make YouTube app completely working on iOS 6 with side panel and etc and here what you need to do: (you can use my video tutorial to have understanding and in case this new method is no longer working too, but for now use this new updated information)
First of all download the last YouTube Version compatible for iOS 6.
In iFile find the YouTube folder and inside the folder the “Info.plist”. Launch it with File-Editor.
Change the first string CFBundleGetInfoString to 12.11.11546 and the two others CFBundleShortVersionString and CFBundleVersion to 11.11.11546. Save and now everything should be fine for now. :-))

June 2019: it’s seems like YouTube not working again and commanding to update..

  1. Update: I changed my get info string date to 2020 and I didn’t even need to clear my cache. It worked

  2. Now I have a solution
    Current Year:2020
    Device:iPhone 5s iOS 7.1.1
Solution: 1. Download the highest version from App Store
    2. Use ifile and change all 3 numbers to 12.19.7
    3. Use iCleaner Pro (press clean button)
    4. After it respring Immediately go power off your device
    5. Turn your device on
    6. Tap YouTube, for the first time it will pop up upgrade info
    7. Clean multitask
    8. Tap YouTube for the second time it will crash
    9. Clean multitask
    10. Repeat step 8&9 for around 5 times
    11. Enjoy YouTube app

  3. Hello Rootanola!
I dont have IconTool Tweakmenu installed what repo is it? I have searched for it in the normal menu but i cant find it 🙁
Also the app crashes when loading a video do you know a fix? I use iphone 3gs and ios 6.1.6 btw good video!!

  4. It says on icon tool supports iOS 5 but I got an error that says This iOS version is not supported 🙁

  5. Doing what you did in the video works, but you can't sign in or see comments and the description in a video. Also the source for IconTool didn't work so I used iCleaner to clean the cache instead and it worked like a charm 🙂

  6. Perfect!!! It works well.

My version of icon Tool does not work well.

Is there a repo for cidya where I can get icon tool ??

    Thank you.

  7. i fixed it, so this is what i did
Step 1:Change 10.11.11546 back in three places (CFBundleGetInfoString,CFBundleShortVersionString,CFBundleVersion )when you done don't open youtube app
Step 2:Add source cydia.invoxiplaygames.uk/beta on cydia
Step 3:Search on cydia Tubefixer and installing it
Now open youtube app and you will never see a warning message update required again ,its working on my idevice iphone 4s ios 6.1.3
I hope you understand what I said because my English is very bad
    :]]

  8. Even with tubefixer app (http://cydia.invoxiplaygames.uk/beta/) YouTube app crashes on login and there is no sense in this app. Safari on iOS 6.1.3 runs YouTube.com perfectly, you can log in and you even can have background playback by double pressing Home button on locked screen:
    1. start video playback in Youtube in Safari
    2. press Start button to lock screen
    3. activate again screen with Home or Start button
    4. double press Home button — playback controls appears
    5. tap Play button — and you got one of Premium-users features!
Yeah, you still got ads, you still have not background playback using else app even with Premium YouTube account, but it is much better criped enjured app in this video.
UPD. Safari mode not so perfect: you should choose between Fullscreen-mode and Scrolling-(comments and sugested videos) -mode. Once you activated Fullscreen other elements freezes. If you expand comments Fullscreen button becomes not active LOL. But it can be fixed by reloading the page.

  9. Thanks!❤️ , I got it on iphone 4 with youtube version 12.43.9, the only problem is that on youtube home it doesn't show any video, just an ad, but when i use the search, the videos appear according to what i type in the search, I hope i don't have this warning again,I need to save your video to never forget it, or this iphone will never have any use. 🇧🇷

  10. Finally someone solved it.
I just wanna add some notes
When you see <starting> then either ios7.* or 8.0 change it to the version you have. It works great with me. Thank you 🙏🏻

  11. Hey uwu I fixed it, for all that have jailbreak install the tweak "app admin" and install the youtube version 11.25.10 (all the other shows up the banner and that one no :D) but I solved on an ipad with ios 8.4.1… maybe you can tray change the value of the .plist on that version…

  12. did you try to install lower install? and install the latest build of ios 8.1.3? It works on me

  13. iFile keeps crashing on my iPod Touch 4th generation, what should I do?

  14. Whenever I try to download something from the app store it says "Your request is temporarily unable to be processed. Please try again later." Do you know how to fix this error?

  15. not working anymore (June 2019). Is there a working .ipa somewhere that is hacked to prevent updates and lets us log in?

  16. I would just like to say: this method doesn’t work anymore, the one in the pinned comment doesn’t work either, however, there was a guy on twitter who has a cydia repo which fixes the issue. However, you can’t sign into YouTube anymore 😥. Also, I just today got an iPad 4 on iOS 6.0, and most apps don’t download even with the older version trick, are there any app admin alternatives for iOS 6 / any .ipas of iOS 6 working apps? Would really appreciate if you had any thoughts

  17. On ipod, Cydia and ifile it's OK but I'm not be able to install icontool 🙁
    How I remediate?

  18. Install tubefixer from repo cydia.invoxiplaygames.uk/beta or betas and youtube will be working again

  20. It worked! Thank you! Too bad though that there's no description or comments, but at least videos are playing and I don't have to deal with that damn pop up.

  21. i had follow your video but my youtube app keep crashing when I search for video on youtube and play it , it keep crashing ,

  22. I've stumbled upon the "update needed" problem, try this fix, failed, deleted youtube, reinstalled it from the app store, now it works fine. WTF. Many thanks I guess?
